TRIO club:
TRIO Program: Is open to students who are planning on transferring to a four year plus college and are a first generation college student. They can help with tutors, books, and offer free classes for many different things each and every term. I do believe Summer is the only term that this is an exception for. Below I listed a link to the government link. Ask your adviser for information if your are curious to if your school offers TRIO.
TRIO Club: This is open for all students regardless of if you are in TRIO or not.
From the Clarkston WWCC campus club - This club is a great deal of fun and yes, you earn something that at the end of the year could amount into very fine prizes. I am speaking about TRIO Bucks of course. The club also does a great deal of activities that will get you involved with the school and some times the community. This is a great way to break the ice and meet new people if your shy because you can volunteer at an event and meet people through it. Some of the events have included: bake sales, tarot and palm reads for fun, Flower bouquet auctions, and silent auctions. The end of the year BBQ is also a lot of fun to attend when in TRIO because that is where the bucks you collected from attending events, meetings, and classes add up for prizes. Last year the community really pitched in and two tablets were done for TRIO Students, one went to the student who attended everything TRIO had to offer and the other was a random draw TRIO Student who was not the one who won the first one.
Other colleges and universities TRIO clubs may offer the same event but I have not been involved thus do not personally know. Please check with your TRIO resource center for your college/university for more information.
